Manager, Insurance Product Development – Individual Marketplace/Exchange

Job Summary:

Manager, Product Management is responsible for managing the work of Product Management team members, including the development, implementation and management of product strategy and benefit design. Direct experience in Product Development or Product Management of Individual Marketplace/ACA or Individual Commercial health insurance products is required.

Essential Functions:

  • Develops, implements and maintains a competitive product platform for all assigned CareSource Products, driving consistency, simplicity and standardization
  • Tracks individual product performance, by benefit design, market segment, sub-region and/or geography, as applicable, and recommends modifications/enhancements
  • Supports the development of short and long-term strategic product design plans for Product, Market, Sales, and overall growth and profitability objectives
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders to drive the overall Product discipline, including the Go-To-Market (GTM) and Product Source of Truth, across the organization
  • Supports Benefit Interpretation support, including applicable grids, spreadsheets, and/or other technology-based applications
  • Supports required Product material reviews for Product and Benefit design elements, as required/assigned
  • Conduct team meetings to establish and execute on detailed tasks
  • Lead and manage initiatives, and have familiarity with, and demonstrated understanding of CareSource’s Products 
  • Lead and manage the assigned Product Management initiatives through their life cycle
  • Manage issue resolution and escalation
  • Create and manage budgets, timelines (milestones) and task schedules
  • Assist in development of reports as required by external governing bodies and internal stakeholders
  • Identify and manage risk, implement mitigation strategies, and communicate/escalate to key stakeholders
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure initiatives are properly funded, resourced, and managed
  • Develop and maintain Product Scorecard reporting to monitor product performance
  • Develop and/or produce applicable policy & procedures, detailed reports, and business decision documents to support the Product Management function
  • Provide clarification/verification for all levels regarding status/details
  • Incorporates effective change and risk management controls
  • Complete 5-year Product Proforma to ensure financial viability
  • Identifies technology-based solutions to support and continuously improve Product Management’s accuracy, quality & execution
  • Interview, select and train new team members
  • Conduct performance management activities for direct reports, to include one-on-one meetings, performance appraisals, and discipline, as appropriate
  • Perform any other job duties as requested

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Arts/Science degree in Finance, Business or health care field, or other related field, or equivalent years of relevant work experience is required
  • Minimum of five (5) years of product management, product development, market strategy, or market research insurance experience, to include at least three (3) years within the healthcare industry is required
  • Minimum of three (3) years of previous management/leadership experience is required
  • Familiarity of the healthcare/managed care field and knowledge of government program products is required
  • Previous experience working with state and Federal regulators/government in a managed care setting is preferred
